No Ordinary Eyes

On July 8, 2010, a new exhibit opens at ShenArt: "No ordinary eyes" a series of photographs by Stephane Zerbib.

"I walk through the city early in the morning when the place feels deserted, as if abandonned. My camera catches moments and my eyes see all but the ordinary, as if I had landed on some strange planet where nothing makes sense. Surreal. Extraordinay. Magic".

Since his arrival in Tel Aviv two years ago, Stephane has been discovering and rediscovering the city. inspired by the elements that surround him, sometimes on purpose and sometimes by chance,  his eyes catch special moments that inspire him to create unique artwork that shows us Tel Aviv as he experiences it. After the paintography series "Bauhaus 100% Tel Aviv", that was a tribute to the white city's centennial, Stephane pursues his exploration of the city and offers us series of photographs entitled: "No Ordinary Eyes". Read more about the project

In this first series of photographs, Stephane shows us the contrasts & contradictions of Neve Tzedek. Old & new, natural & man-made, truth & appearance, public & private, real & unreal.... He looks through the lens and presents us his reality, his vision of Tel Aviv's first jewish neighborhood. Neve Tzedek was established in 1887, 22 years before the 1909 founding of the City of Tel Aviv, by a group of Jewish families seeking a more peaceful life outside of overpopulated Jaffa and is today of the trendiest areas in town.
